Pamela's work explores emerging approaches to nature, landscape, and the self; Her work highlights gestures in which peculiarities and details have the possibility of creating new narratives, searching for ways to approach the notions of image, materiality and memory through drawings and photographs that perceive space as a reflective medium of time.

Deeply Sinking Down.

SOLO SHOW
Studio Kura Residency,
Itoshima, Japan.

About
The series of drawings “Breaths” ultimately addresses a performance and collection of breaths during her Studio Kura Residency in Itoshima. Introducing walking as both, a loss of control and a seizing of public space. Elements and objects found on-site presented as a brief poetic consideration on the material attributes that define the city: about the subjective and intangible. The real goal here is the unexpected imaginings and emotional wanderings we hope the project might engender in the mind and body of the viewer.
The final pieces she presented included four pastel drawings alongside found objects and three ink drawings on rice paper capturing her window view. In the end, she contemplated the relationship between individual wayfinding guided by the existing landscape or city plan.

Breathing exercise performed during the exhibition.

Breathing evenly and deeply–breathing deeper and deeper still. Just let any tight muscles or tension uncoil a nd unwind as you sink downward into drowsiness.

You are going to count to ten and on the count if ten you will go into an even deeper–refreshing hypnotic sleep. As deep sleep seeps all over inside your body.

1...2– Your eyelids, – experiencing very heavy feeling – your head feeling heavier and heavier still.
In a little bit you will close your eyes, for as long as it pleases you. Study the patterns that you visualize in the darkness.

Open your eyes when you wish to continue with the text.

3...4– This comfortable, hypnotic sleepy, heavy feeling is spreading – down into your arms and hands – as you begin to uncoil each muscle in your fingers.

As self-hypnotic drowsiness enters your mind and you don't have a care in the world.
Your mind is like an empty space ; it is truly quiet with little or no conscious awareness. You feel so free...in deep, deep self-hypnotic sleep. Relax and calm the muscles in your temples. As you think about relaxing these muscles. The muscles will relax and be calmer.

5...6 – your whole body is completely relaxing as this sleepiness sinks deeper and deeper into your legs and feet, as you–breathe deeper and deeper still... Sinking down into a pleasant self-hypnotic sleep.

7...8– so relaxed, so comfortable , concentrating on... Deep relaxation – as you prepare for a deep, refreshing self-hypnotic sleep, go into hypnotic sleep- now.
9...10– and down you go - deep asleep, deep... into this deep hypnot- ic, refreshing sleep. Breathing evenly and deeply–You go down- deeper and deeper into hypnotic sleep with every breath that you take.

Creep deeper, sinking into hypnotic sleep... now... Imagine that you are lying on a six inch, newly poured bed of wet cement. You can feel the imprint as your entire body sinks deeper and deeper down into the element.

You are entering an even deeper, self-hypnotic sleep with every breath you take.
Now, you are going to count to ten once more, and on the count of ten you will go more deeply into hypnotic relax- ation sinking even deeper down into the surrounding cement.

Deeper...

...deeper...drowsy relaxation covering your entire body and mind. Drifting down the tunnel, dropping down, float- ing down.
...Going down... even deeper...

“A collage collection that makes you feel a unique sense of space and detail of the drawing. Bringing a sense of wonder to wander through emotions and thoughts. It seems that natural things, such as rocks and landscapes, are becoming more
unique in a delicate drawing that can feel the strong wind and the calm of the
time just before spring.”
